It is officially derby in the Barclays Premier league today in what is meant to be, absolute random fixtures? The first game 
sees Newcastle United play bitter rivals Sunderland at St James’ Park. It sees two teams meet who are both in decent form.
It is the first time Newcastle and Sunderland will meet since Newcastle were relegated from the premier league. Newcastle are in fine form too as they look to stay in the premier league. They did have a minor blip in form in midweek when a second string newcastle team got hammered by a very strong arsenal team in the Carling Cup. I wouldn’t think this form will affect their performance in the newcastle vs sunderland derby.
Sunderland however are enjoying a bit of a mixed form with wins and losses that they shouldn’t have. It looks as though Sunderland are missing Kenwyne Jones at times as he has now moved onto Stoke City. They should never have sold Jones as they have now found goals a little harder to come by as they rely on darren bent. My prediction for the Newcastle vs Sunderland game, is Newcastle to win 3-1 with Andy Carroll scoring a couple.
